Jeans, Stripes & Cashmere

I mentioned the other day on instagram that June in Maine could easily be mistaken for the middle of autumn. The temperatures are still pretty chilly up here in the north east, so sweaters as layering pieces are a must. I don't want to complain about the breezy weather because I know that in no time it will be August and we will most likely be complaining about the sweltering heat. A pair of jeans and lots of layers are basic pieces are necessities in Maine.

This classic black J.Crew cashmere sweater is such a staple in my closet, perfect for any occasion from day to night. To contradict the colder weather, I tried to throw in some summer inspired pieces like nautical stripes and espadrilles. My mom and I both have the Stripe Boxy Tee, it is a great modern style of the classic navy and white pattern. Mark D. Sikes, a prominent interior designer, released a clothing line this spring that is made for anyone who has a love for navy + white; MDS Stripes.  Blaire Eadie, from Atlantic Pacific, was wearing one of MDS Stripes beautiful long skirts. The other day I spotted BaubleBar's great new 'make your own' charm necklaces on Grace's blog, The Stripe. I love layering necklaces; I have always eyed the necklaces and collections of charms from Jennifer Fisher Jewelry, but lets be honest, those are not in my current price range, so for now (and probably always) BaubleBar is the way to go.

Lets hope that some more typical summer weather is on its way to Maine, but for now you will most likely find me in jeans and a sweater. What about you all? Are you already fully amidst summer heat or are you still waiting for some beautiful sunshine?
